Nov 24, 2012 - Isle de Phoque

"Its always nice to go for a dive with the seals but it awesome when the conditions are so good that you can virtually dive any spot that you want on the island.

One thing that often gets overlooked when diving Isle de Phoque are the cave systems - the island is absolutely riddled in them and they are great fun to explore, especially when you end each dive with some playtime with the seals. With this in mind, six intrepid divers headed over the calm seas for the 20 minute run to Isle de Phoque.

We first jumped into a small bay just to the east of the main colony which lead to two large caves which were great fun and went back about 50m or so. Once these undersea gems were suitably investigated, we swam along the coast towards the main colony for a bit of play time with the puppies of the sea. They never dissapoint.

The second dive was a bit more traditional in that we did the almost standard 'curcuit' on the western side of the island - going through the island via one cave and then back via the aptly named "Washing Machine" which thankfully was only on a light cycle this particular day. Once everyone was back on board, we motored across to the main colony again and jumped in to have a play with the seals with our remaining air.

All in all, an awesome day was had by all and we can't wait to do it again. It was great to see Cliff along for his first dive with the club and Scotty along after a lengthy break. "
